Sir Nunn Red Lady, Golden Charmer and Golden Sunrise. - November 2010
We are very happy with the three horses that we chose from Pinewood Stud. There was such a lot to choose from but I settled with a chesnut filly, palomino filly and palomino colt. Red Lady is the star so far, followed closely by Charmer because of his great personality. Everyone who sees them thinks they're wonderful. After I had chosen the 3 that I wanted the stud kindly held them for over a month whilst I sorted out my fencing. Louise also arranged travelling gear, leather headcollars etc. so they would be comfortable.

The Gillie family have been transporting horses throughout UK and Europe for the past 35 years, and are very experienced in this business. Jane called to say how impressed she was with the good manners and placid behaviour of your horses. She said it was a tribute to you and the people at Pinewood who handle the horses, that they were so good. Mrs Gillie does not very often make such comments.

Moonshine Obsession - November 2010
We recently became the proud owners of Moonshine Obsession,OB to his friends,a most wonderful chap. It was love at first sight for sure, but wouldnt have been possible without Louise who guided us every step of the way with patience and invaluable advice. Nothing was too much trouble which made the process totally enjoyable, I would recommend Pinewood Lodge Stud to anyone looking for a top quality horse and a buying experience on a very personal level, thanks also to William and Mr Nunn ,for making us so welcome. All concerned did exactly what they said they would do in a totally professional manner.Cant wait to get our hands on our beautiful boy, looking forward to many years of Palamino fun and friendship!

Regards C&D

Sir Nunn Golden Jewel - September 2010
I've had D for just over a month now and can't believe how fantastic he is. Our whole yard is very impressed with him and the standard of your stud. He settled in straight away, is better behaved than my other horse (who is 5) and is just brilliant, I can not thank you enough for the work you guys have put into him. He happily goes out by himself or with our other boys and doesn't cause a fuss about anything! He is quite the character, he likes to run up to things and just lick them! I've not had any issues with him, it took me only a few days before I could rug him, do his feet and trot him in hand. If I were to ever get another palomino I know where I'd be getting them from!

There were so many to choose from when I came down to the stud but I am so glad I picked him. Every one was very friendly and put up with my ever changing mind of filly/colt/yearling/weanling. After looking at all the youngsters that where there, I had my short list and after one nights sleep I had made my decision and had put the deposit down by the following afternoon.

I would recomend Sir Nunn's of Pinewood Stud to anybody looking for a well educated and well behaved youngster. Thank you and I can't wait to see you all at some shows in the future!

Pinewood Egyptian Prince (Rafi) - May 2010
Well, what can I say? We've been so pleased with him. Everyone seemed to expect a loony Arab and I admit when we got him home and he leaped off the trailer head up and snorting they might have thought they were right! However he soon settled and proved to be very well mannered. By next morning YO was able to report that she had been in his box and cleaned him out no problem with him still in there - which seemed to surprise her a bit.

Simon, who doesn't even like horses was and is absolutely smitten - Rafi seems to prefer his tickles and scratches to anyone else's and from the start was always really pleased to see him and get his cuddles. In return Simon has (shock horror) actually taken charge of cleaning his stable at weekends.

After a few days we started walking him out in hand (me and Simon having to take 'turns' so we didn't argue about who was going to hold the lead rope!), again Rafi was so very well mannered.

The first time I rode was in the school with YO and her husband on hand, as well as Simon. YO held Rafi for me while I mounted with husband standing by - they expected him to take off as soon as I got on board. In fact he stood like a statue while I mounted and behaved perfectly when I was riding. YO and husband said that he had been very nicely broken - YO breaks and trains horses for a living (and has done for 30 years) so I trust her opinion.

I started hacking him out with Simon accompanying us on his bike and recently have been taking him out on my own. He is such a little star. I tack him up and he stands untied and waits for me. He's never offered to buck or rear or take off home and I feel perfectly safe on him.

In the early days I took him in the school to try some 'desensitizing' work. Got out bollards, crates, a drum - other bits and pieces lying about like a rug flapping on the wall etc. Nothing bothered him, he tried to eat the bollards. I got a lunging whip and stroked him all over with it, including under his belly - no reaction. Same with a rope. Oh well, there wasn't much to do that session!

He's lovely to groom too - moves over when asked, doesn't mind where I touch him, offers his feet, loves having his face brushed, we spray mane & tail conditioner and fly spray on him no problem. I've hosed him down too without any trouble.

I can only assume all this is due to the training he's had at your place and I'd like to thank whoever's responsible for that from the bottom of my heart - he's truly a credit to you and an absolute joy to me.

YO and husband keep telling me how lucky I've been - he's my first horse and to go out and buy the first horse I saw and not only that but to get a 4 year old, just gelded Arab they say I've been amazingly lucky. In fact they've been going round the village telling people how lucky I am - I know that because I keep getting stopped by people in the street telling me the same! Rafi has actually changed YOs opinion of Arabs - she always thought they were a bit stupid and 'mad' but Rafi has proved her wrong - he's obviously very clever and very sane.

Thanks so much for everything, I'm so glad you talked me into coming to see him when I rang about the mare!

February 2011

Hope you're well and that everything's going ok at your very busy yard.

I thought I'd send you an up to date photo of Rafi - my riding instructor took it today during our lesson. We were working on getting Rafi going on the bit.

You know I really only ever wanted a horse I could hack for miles, but Rafi just seems to turn his hoof to anything, so we're both enjoying our lessons - and I really think Rafi does enjoy learning. We started jumping today too. Ruth, my instructor, thinks he's lovely and she's another one who thinks I've been incredibly lucky. She says Rafi will do anything and she can tell he'll be able to jump from his bouncy canter. She also thinks he's been very well brought up.

Our hacking is also going very well - it's so nice to be out and about on a horse that seems to enjoy it as much as I do. At the moment it's weekends only and I can't wait for the longer days and the evening hacks. I'm planning on doing some pleasure rides this year, will let you know how we get on!

Anyway, thanks again for such a lovely horse, Rafi really is my dream boy.

Take care

Sirnunn Golden Spirit - May 2010
After deciding I wanted a palomino yearling I gave pinewood stud a call to arrange a viewing. On arrival we were immediately impressed by the setup they had. We met louise on site and she took us to the field where the yearlings were kept. They were all very inqusitive and as soon as I saw them I realised it was definately what I wanted. One of them in particular caught my eye, Spirit. We left a deposit after a nights thought and they kindly arranged to get him gelded. Two weeks after that first viewing I went to pick him up. He is coming along brilliantly. Doing his first show this weekend. Would definately buy from again, if I had the space!

Sir Nunn’s Hope n Glory - April 2010
I went to visit the Stud in April 2010 and was surrounded by numerous beautiful Palomino Horses of all ages. There were so many to choose from, but a little 2 year old colt who had wintered out took my Heart. He had such a gorgeous temperament I just had to have him. Louise offered to keep him for me until he had been gelded and made to look a little smarter. So 5 weeks later Glory arrived and according to the Transporter he had loaded like a dream away from his field mates, eaten a haynet on his journey all by himself. I would highly recommend anyone buying a horse from the stud as that it is obvious that they love and care for their horses. They are all very well handled and most importantly have good temperaments. I may even return and have one more!
